United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a Rosebud man has been indicted by a federal grand jury for Failure to Register as a Sex Offender.
Frank White Thunder, age 24, was indicted by a federal grand jury on September 13, 2011, for Failure to Register as a Sex Offender. He appeared before United States Magistrate Judge Mark A. Moreno on October 5, 2011, and pled not guilty to the indictment. The maximum penalty upon conviction is 10 years in custody, a $250,000 fine, or both. Restitution may also be ordered.
The charge relates to the Defendant’s alleged failure to register and update a registration between June 2, 2011, and September 13, 2011, as required under the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act after being convicted of a sex offense. The charge is merely an accusation, and White Thunder is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
The investigation is being conducted by the United States Marshal’s Service. Assistant United States Attorney Jay Miller is prosecuting the case. White Thunder was remanded to the custody of the United States Marshal. A trial date has not yet been set.
